Project Raise supports Ofunneka’s book party
Project Raise One Million, an initiative of Visible Impact has thrown its weight behind the forthcoming book party by Ofunneka Molokwu, the first runner-up of the 2008 edition of the Big Brother Africa reality TV show.

The aim of the Book Party being organised by Partnership of Engaged Minds (POEM), a collaboration of the Ofunneka Youth Empowerment Trust Fund and Women Sharing Network is to gather book donations which will be used to equip the library of Surulere Girls Secondary School in Lagos.


According to Fela Durotoye, CEO, Visible Impact and initiator of Project RAISE
(Revive Academic excellence In our Schools and Educational institutions), Ofunneka’s book party “is a laudable idea”.

According to him, “we are supporting her because it is in line with our vision to make Nigeria the world’s centre for academic excellence”.

Mr. Durotoye will be speaking at the Book Party billed for February 28, 2010 at the Recreational Park at Victoria Garden City in Lagos.

Project RAISE One million, an on-going project of Visible Impact, which is aimed at assisting one million students pass the JAMB UTME and WAEC exams has since partnered with Ofunneka on the project. RAISE One million is also supporting with volunteers as well as logistics and publicity for the book party.

Mickael Johnson, Project Manager for Project RAISE One million says “Project RAISE One million is a movement to help kids pass JAMB UTME and WAEC”.

Johnson believes that “Ofunneka’s idea of providing resource materials for kids is a welcome development. More so, the school she has selected falls under Lagos’ District IV, where we are currently piloting Project RAISE One million from”.

Each attendee is expected to come along with as many books as possible to be donated to kids between ages 11 - 18 and a sum of N1,000 for registration to cover the cost of refreshments at the party. Books on all fields are welcome, especially textbooks for Senior Secondary School students on subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Commerce. Government e.t.c
