CELEBRATE THESE HEROES OF OUR TIME!

Thank you for all your kind words of commendation concerning the impact of the fd@40 project and particularly the building of the school library at Methodist Grammar School II, New Bodija, Ibadan.

I couldn't have done this library project without the help and support of several people in Ibadan, notably the G.Next Team led by Femi and Toni Olumide. Members of the G.Next Team supervised the construction of the library and physically got involved with painting the room themselves. Their passion and enthusiasm reminded me so much of the Mushin Makeover project.

But, the miracle I must testify about came from the halls of Access Bank's School of Banking Excellence whose participants (on a course Visible Impact runs) individually contributed funds that went a long way to help build the library.

If you know any of these people, please take out the time to call or send them a text/bb/tweet to thank them on my behalf  and on behalf of the students and staff of Methodist Grammar School II, New Bodija, Ibadan for making the library project happen. A SPEECH DELIVERED BY THE PRINCIPAL,
METHODIST GRAMMAR SCHOOL II, NEW BODIJA, IBADAN
AT AN EVENT MARKING THE FORTIETH (40TH) BIRTHDAY ANNIVERSARY OF
MR. FELA DUROTOYE
(April 14, 2011)

Our distinguished guest, Mr. Fela Durotoye, members of Fela Durotoye’s organization, Exco members of the P.T.A of this great school, Vice Principals and the entire members of staff, students here present, ladies and gentlemen.

Today is an epoch-making day as it marks the presence of a Motivational Speaker in person of Mr. Fela Durotoye in our midst.

On behalf of the entire school and the P.T.A, I sincerely express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Mr. Fela Durotoye and his team for their kind gesture towards the development of our school library.

Actually, I had wanted the P.T.A block to be given a facelift but, financially, the school and the P.T.A are not buoyant enough to embark on such a project. So, I resorted to prayer, asking God to send someone or an organization to adopt the school and give us assistance.

In answer to prayer, somebody just walked in from Fela Durotoye, asking if we needed any pressing need in the school; that Fela Durotoye, a Motivational Speaker and a Philanthropist, will be celebrating his 40th Birthday Anniversary and is planning to float forty projects all over the country to mark his birthday. This, I say, is highly commendable.

I had the privilege of listening to a C.D titled "The New Nigeria" produced by Fela Durotoye in collaboration with Gbenga Adenuga. In it, I discovered who Fela Durotoye is. I can describe him as a man that has a great passion for a better, dynamic and egalitarian Nigeria. He is a man that is so concerned about Nigerian youths. He desires a crop of youths that are patriotic, that display a zeal for hardwork, that have a high sense of responsibility and a class of youth that have a proven integrity laced with amiable characteristics, such as honesty, reliability and tolerance.

Fela Durotoye is in one word, aspiring for pragmatic and dependable Nigerian youth. No wonder his clarion call to Nigerian youth is to rise up and make Nigeria a better country. I pray that his dream for a better and stronger Nigeria will be actualized.

Once again, I say thank you to him and his team.

God bless you.
